What's the weather

Here are a selection of hits that Ella learned at preschool minus the clean-up song. That one Daddy taught her.

The artist

One of my favorite things about picking Ella up from school is seeing what little art project she will have in her backpack that day. I try to wait until I get home to open up her backpack but since I have to sit through a couple of lights trying to get out of Decatur, I never seem to make it past the second light before the backpack is open. As most people know, I am not a very patient person so the fact that I can make it to the second light is pretty impressive. I love to hear Ella get all excited as I pull her pictures out of the backpack. She is so proud of them as she holds and admires her artwork.
Here are a couple of pictures of her favorite project she brought home from last week when her class discussed pond life.

Finally, I went into the kitchen the other day to check on lunch and came back to find Maddie had done this....

Fall has arrived

As far as I am concerned, fall does not officially start until you can wear a long sleeved shirt. That day finally arrived today. I have been itching to break out the fall clothes. Since we had a birthday party to go to today and it was outside, I jumped all over it and put the girls in long sleeved t-shirts.

I am so happy that the weather is cooling down and the girls can play outside more and enjoy my favorite time of the year. I know Ella is going to love it when the leaves start to fall. She loves picking up leaves whenever we go for walks. I don't know what she is going to do with herself once they are all on the ground. Come to think of it, I don't know what we are going to do with all of the leaves that she is bound to bring home.

Our little preschooler

I can't believe that our almost 3-year-old had her first day of preschool today. It's the beginning of her schooling career. She doesn't even realize that she has many more years of this to come!

She ate a great breakfast, which is unusual for her. I told her she needed a lot of energy to play at school so she had to eat a good breakfast. That seemed to do the trick! When I dropped her off in her classroom, she walked over to her little cubbie and hung up her backpack and then just stood there looking at all of the other kids playing. I think there was so much going on, that she didn't know what to do! I gave her a hug, told her I loved her and that I would be back to pick her up very soon. There were no tears from either of us.

When I came to pick her up two hours later, I think I was more excited to see her than she was to see me. As we drove home, she told me that she went pee-pee before going to the slide park, which was inside (she was very excited about the fact that it was inside), she sang the abc's, ate some apples, and saw a black cat in her classroom. Not really sure about the black cat since she said it was real and I don't really think they have any animals at the preschool. But that was her day according to Ella.

Dads

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there! I know that dads sometimes don't get as much credit as the moms do but I don't know where we would be without our dads. I feel truly blessed to have a wonderful dad and a great father-in-law. And to top if off, Chris is a fantastic dad to the girls. I know how fortunate I am to be surrounded by great men in my life! I hope all the dads in my life have a great day tomorrow. I love you all.

A little late

So, my intention was to put these up last weekend so you could see what we were up to LAST weekend but here we are a week later and I am just now getting to posting them. Well, at least I'm putting them up!

Ella has been quite the little cook these days. She really enjoys helping us out in the kitchen - whether it's helping Daddy cook or helping Mommy unload the dishwasher. She is always ready to help. I am pretty sure that her favorite thing to do is to stir. Doesn't matter what it is - she'll stir it! I had to take a picture of her helping Chris make a dip the other weekend. I thought she was too cute in her underwear and Dora hat!

Since last weekend it was the first weekend after Memorial Day weekend, our pool was officially open and we decided to open it up last weekend. This was Maddie's first time in the pool. She had a great time, although I think she was a little cold. I think Ella had the most fun. She probably enjoyed having someone else in the pool besides Cooper.

If you look close enough, you can see Maddie's one tooth on the bottom. Okay, I'm probably the only one that can see it but I'm telling you it's there.
